Work With Me

Municipalities, state agencies, nonprofits, and research teams need more than raw data—they need evidence-based insights that drive better policy decisions. I help translate complex administrative data, econometric models, and policy research into clear, actionable analysis.

I’m Dallin Overstreet, a public policy researcher and data analyst specializing in social safety net programs, state and local government finance, and policy diffusion. My research has been published in Urban Affairs Review, Public Finance Review, Public Budgeting & Finance, and others. Through PoliMetrics, I bring rigorous, evidence-based policy analysis to broader audiences, because good policy deserves good data..

How I Can Help

  1. Interactive Dashboards & Data Tools

    1. Build custom R Shiny applications for budget analysis, performance tracking, and public transparency

    2. Automate recurring reports and data updates

    3. Design user-friendly interfaces for non-technical stakeholders

  2. Policy Analysis & Research

    1. Analyze state and local policy responses using econometric methods (difference-in-differences, synthetic control, event studies)

    2. Conduct spatial and network analysis

    3. Evaluate program effectiveness and forecast policy impacts

  3. Municipal Finance & Government Analytics

    1. Develop financial transparency dashboards for cities and counties

    2. Analyze budget trends, revenue patterns, and fiscal health indicators

    3. Create data-driven tools for resource allocation decisions

  4. Strategic Advisory & Custom Reports

    1. Translate academic research into accessible policy briefs

    2. Provide data-driven strategy sessions for government officials and advocacy groups

    3. Design custom econometric models for program evaluation

Here’s a repository of some examples of projects I’ve worked on.

Pricing

Every project is unique, but here’s a general guide:

  • Hourly consulting: $125-150/hour, with flexibility for longer-term partnerships and mission-driven organizations

  • Interactive dashboards & data tools: Typically $5,000-$15,000+ depending on complexity, platform (R Shiny, Tableau, Streamlit), data integration needs, and customization requirements

  • Policy analysis projects: From $3,000-$12,000+, varying by scope, data requirements, and modeling complexity

    • Program evaluation: Did this program/policy work? What was its impact?

    • Impact forecasting: What will happen if we implement this policy?

    • Trend analysis: How have outcomes changed over time, and what’s driving those changes?

    • Benchmarking: How does our performance compare to similar jurisdictions?

  • Custom reports & briefings: From $2,500 for policy briefs to $12,000+ for comprehensive research reports

Exact pricing is finalized after our initial consultation based on project scope and deliverables.

About Me

I hold a PhD in Public Policy and Administration from Arizona State University, where I also earned my master’s and bachelor’s degrees. My dissertation examined state-level policy responses to federal unemployment insurance reforms using interrupted time series and difference-in-differences methods. I’ve taught applied statistics as adjunct faculty and have extensive experience with econometric modeling, including Cox proportional hazards models, synthetic control methods, and spatial analysis.
